In-house development of gel pads for the new CaviTAU®-device

In order to enable proper use of the ultrasound device, so-called gel pads have been specially developed for the new CaviTAU®. The gel pads are adapted to the shape of the CaviTAU® transmitter and designed for system-relevant ultrasound coupling.

A great deal of development time has gone into creating the gel pads in order to ensure the best possible sound velocity, sound attenuation and thus the determination of the density of the jawbone.

As with any ultrasound device, air and water (liquid) between the contact units and the tissue to be examined must be avoided.

The gel pads therefore have the task of enclosing the transmitter and receiver units of the handpiece in order to provide the user with optimum contact with the jawbone or the patient’s cheek.

A distinction is made here between:

Gel pad for the transmitter
(Extraoral use)

Gel pad for the receiver
(Enoral use)

Gel pad for the transmitter
(Extraoral use)

Gel pad for the receiver
(Enoral use)

For the use of the CaviTAU® device, 1x enoral AND 1x extraoral gel pad is required per application. The pads must not be interchanged. If the gel pads are visibly damaged, a new gel pad must be inserted during the examination on a patient.

The gel pads can be ordered in different pack sizes from our online shop (www.shop.cavitau.de).

The pack sizes are staggered as follows:

Set Gel-Pads „extraoral use“

Set Gel-Pads „enoral use“

CaviTAU®-Gel-Pad for extraoral use.

One extraoral gel pad can be used for several examinations/patients. If the general hygiene regulations are observed, the extraoral gel pad can be used between 4 and 5 times.

CAUTION: When using the extraoral gel pad, please note that make-up may contaminate the pad and cannot be removed. Should this be the case, the cushion cannot be used again.

The gel pads are adapted to the shape of the CaviTAU® receiver and designed for system-relevant ultrasound coupling.
Due to hygiene and licensing requirements, an enoral gel pad may only be used for ONE patient per examination.

NOTE: Please read the supplied device instructions carefully. If there is visible damage to the gel pads (enoral and exraoral), it is essential to use a new gel pad when examining the patient!
